--- I started watching InuYasha , when I got really into adult swim , like 2 years ago maybe. Then the show stopped coming on when I usually watched it . Now I can only see it if I wake up at like 4 or 5 am .  |

| Most people like kagome better because she is the main heroine, she is nicer, and I think people were just meant to like her more. I don't particularly love kagome, I just prefer her |

I jsut think Kikyou's so bad luck...
Look.3 boys love Kagome...
But only Inuyasha love Kikyou...
Kagome live happy but Kikyou dead for 2 times!...
And in the age most girl make themselves beautiful and be in love but Kikyou just can work hard...
The worst is.When kikyou in love.Naraku hurt her body and heart... |

| Really only two loved Kagome. I wouldn't call the Hojos feelings love. And With Kikyo, There were two people who loved her. Inuyasha and Onigumo, and everyone was always talking about how beautiful she was. I don't feel sorry for her in that regard. And Everyone dies eventually so I dont feel that sorry that Kikyo died. |

I'd like to state that there isn't any proof I'd noticed that Kikyo knew Inuyasha longer (well actually, it all depends at which point in the series you are.) The time of Kikyo and Inuyasha being together could of been years (which I highly doubt) to maybe a few days. And if they loved each other for a very, VERY long time, don't you think that the whole point of Kikyo being killed the day she was to bring Inuyasha the Shikon Jewel wouldn't of happened, for she would have brought him the jewel earlier?
In case you didn't understand/were too lazy to read it all, my main points were:
1. There is no proof that Kikyo and Inuyasha have been together longer than Kagome and Inuyasha have (depending where you are, of course  )
2. If it really was a really long time with Kikyo and Inuyasha, Kikyo probably already would of gave Inuyasha the jewel. Therefore, it probably was a shorter period of time. (Another thing to anyone who would try to counteract this post with other evidence, it was obvious since they met that Inuyasha wanted the jewel, so they would of thought of making him human pretty quick)
Oh, also, Kagome isn't "dazzled" by any freaking boy. She has no feelings for Hojo, she pretends (sort of) to like Kouga, and really is just deeply in love with Inuyasha. Therefore, I think Kagome is better for him. |

I love both of them, but honestly I think Kagome would be a better mate for our dog-boy.
Kikyo is already dead and it's just wrong to mate with a pile of clay.

This debate has a couple extenuating circumstances that make it hard to argue either way. So I will argue for both sides.
Pro - Kikyo Argument
1.) The only reason that Kikyo and Inuyasha arn't together and Kagome was even a part of the story is the fact that Naraku tore them apart. Had Naraku not been there Inuyasha would be human and their story would have come and gone. (Of course that doesn't make for a very good T.V. Show. . .)
2.) Even after she thought that Inuyasha had betrayed her, she could not bring herself to kill Inuyasha. Instead of purifying him with an arrow she bound him to a tree in which he wouldn't age.
3.) Her personality fits Inuyasha very well (not that Kagome's doesn't). Kikyo's melancholy matches that of Inuyasha's. Inuyasha, a half demon, doesn't have a place to fit in. Kikyo, a priestess who can't waiver, can never live a normal life.
Pro - Kagome Argument
1.) Kikyo is dead, even though she has a body to walk around with, she is dead. The living and the dead can never be together, no matter how strong the feelings.
2.) Kagome understood that Inuyasha had put up walls around himself because of his past (including those around his heart because of Kikyo), yet she still elected to stay by Inuyasha's side and try and ease his sorrow.
3.) While they both struggle to admit it, the need each other. The story makes it pretty evident throughout the series that if the one didn't have the other, they would be overtaken by their sorrow. Without Kagome, Inuyasha would have no one in the world to go to and would drown in his sorrow. Kagome's attitude, while vastly unlike Kikyo's, is like a bandaid for Inuyasha's broken spirit. Her sympothy and kind heartedness help ease the pain Inuyasha has felt all his life. |

Objectively speaking, Kagome is the better choice since Kikyo is dead.
Crude, but true. It's a corpse of bones and mud, and one that starts falling apart if you don't feed it human souls at that. Not exactly practical for a long-lasting relationship, not to mention starting a family. (Kagome being from another time is also not so practical, but it's slightly better.)
Then again, if she can keep it up, perhaps she'll stay young and they can be together for a few hundred years instead of just the usual 70.
If Kikyo hadn't died, I think Inuyasha could have become happy with her... just like he could become happy with Kagome now. There's no rule saying that a guy can only love once in his life, and I think he really loved them both (and they both love him, too). It's only due to Naraku's interference that Kagome came out on top, but she did. And like others said, Kikyo has to accept that her time is over. |

Why I favor Kikyo:
Elegance, Grace, Class. She's got 'em. Comes of being a miko, I suppose.
Kikyo never had to use a necklace on Inuyasha. Her own power was sufficient. In fact, given the opportunity to put it on him, she declines. Though Kikyo could use the necklace at ANY point in the series through her own command word ('Beloved') there is NO Recorded instance of her doing so. Not even once.
Inuyasha looks at Kikyo with respect, even adoration. He never looks at Kagome like that until manga chapter 558. He does not treat her rudely.
Inuyasha chases Kikyo, even when she does try to push him away in the middle of the manga. It never matters. Inu goes after her anyway.
Kikyo gets all manga kisses. Kagome gets a noncanon movie, but Kikyo gets ALL the smooches. Every last one.
Kikyo's second death evoked more emotion from Inuyasha then Kagome's fakeout death. He cries, harder then he's ever cried before. In that same scene, he says 'first woman I ever loved.' And he kisses her, hard.
And through all that, her soul is redeemed. The soul collectors she once used to gather souls take her to heaven. Remember, she started that unlife comming out of Hell. She is so redeemed by the end of her unlife that she is found worthy of heaven. She does not die in sorrow the second time, but in joy. And Inuyasha is primarily responsible for that. "You came for me. That's good enough."
Since Kikyo can't be with Inuyasha in truth, she at least got the best ending logically possible for an undead priestess. She died wrapped in love, sealed with a kiss. In a scene so passionate Kagome never comes close, even after she's engaged to Inuyasha. |
